Equally Well

New digital platform to connect Industry experts and published research

Background

Equally Well is a national initiative committed to improving the physical health and wellbeing of people living with mental illness in Australia by connecting research, evidence and practice across health systems. The Equally Well website supports this mission by providing a comprehensive resource library of evidence-based tools, factsheets and conference outputs that support practitioners, policy makers, researchers and community members.

Solution

KND Digital partnered with Equally Well to redesign and rebuild their digital platform with a focus on usability, content accessibility, and the ability to connect and surface resources from multiple sources — including outputs from annual and multi-year national conferences — into one cohesive dataset.

Outcome & Impact

The rebuilt Equally Well website now delivers:

  • A user-centred resource library designed to support practitioners and community audiences alike
  • Connected data flows that make conference materials easy to locate and reference
  • A scalable foundation for future content, research and events
  • Enhanced usability and accessibility that supports the organisation’s mission of equitable access to health information
  • By bringing the resource library and conference materials together under a unified structure, KND Digital helped transform a complex content ecosystem into a clear, searchable hub of evidence and action.

Prior to this project, Equally Well’s digital presence included a large volume of resources, publications and conference materials that were:

  • Difficult to navigate and filter
  • Fragmented across multiple event pages
  • Hard to update or scale with new data over time

Project goals were:

  • Create a unified, searchable resource library
  • Improve discoverability of publications, factsheets and conference outputs
  • Support future-proof data management for new events and research
  • Make the website accessible and usable for both professionals and public audiences

The focus was not only on design, but on the data architecture required to connect content across topics, formats and sources.

Strategy & Solution

Holistic UX & Information Architecture

  • We redesigned the site navigation and resource structures to ensure users could:
  • Quickly filter by topic, format, audience and date
  • Search across all resource types (PDFs, reports, conference materials, factsheets)
  • Access critical health information with minimal clicks
  • This involved mapping existing content, tagging and categorising each entry, and building a flexible filtering system to support ongoing content growth.

Resource Library Rebuild

The core of the project was the new resource library interface. This includes:

  • A powerful search tool tailored for large datasets
  • Intelligent filters for sorting by relevance, date and content type
  • A design that makes complex research outputs readable and usable
  • Users can now find anything from clinical fact sheets to conference proceedings quickly and intuitively, all backed by structured metadata.

Conference Integration

Equally Well’s yearly national conferences generate significant insights and outputs. We:

  • Built connections between conference pages and the resource library
  • Standardised metadata tags for speakers, topics and dates
  • Ensured conference outputs automatically surface within the main resource index
  • This enables the dataset to grow organically while maintaining relevance and discoverability.
